Athens is a city of layers—historical, emotional, textural. In my work I seek to go beyond the individual layers to find and explore that part of each of us which is communal; regardless of time, nationality, ethnicity or religion and make this essential core visible. Thus the artwork creates a moment of confrontation and ultimately dialogue with the viewer.”
Born in New York City, graduated from Bard College. Accepted and lived in Westbeth, the first federally sponsored housing for artists in the USA. Has lived in Switzerland since 1970, Switzerland/Italy from 1975-82, and Switzerland/USA since 1989. Has written art criticism for the International Herald Tribune and is Zurich correspondent for ARTnews, USA. 11/20012-3/2013 received the VISARTE Residency at La Cité International des Arts, Paris.
