Raquel Mora Bajo
Self-directed Residency
Raquel Mora was born in Aranjuez, Madrid. From an early age she was influenced by her grandfather, a cinema technician and painter, who taught her to draw animals and plants from nature. This habit was the stimulus for what would become her higher studies in Biological Sciences, Fine Arts and Ceramics.
This interest in processes has led her to investigate different artistic disciplines such as engraving, ceramics, painting and photography, although her most common working tools are drawing and ceramics.
Throughout her career she has been awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Culture at the Cité Internationale de Paris; she has exhibited at fairs such as ARCO 2007, Frieze, 2009, Art Toronto 2009-2011, Scope Miami 2010, TIAF 2012 or Art Sevilla; she has had solo exhibitions in galleries such as ATM, Liebre or Galería Begoña Malone with exhibitions such as Grafomanías and Indumentarias del deseo. She has also exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in museums such as Würth, Fundación Gregorio Prieto 2018, Museo de arte contemporáneo de Alicante or the Museo Arqueológico de Albacete, or the Museo de arte contemporáneo de Murcia in 2019; she has been awarded in several competitions such as the EAC and has work in several collections such as the Museo de la Ciudad de Madrid or La colección Sur de CCOO.
In 2021 she had a retrospective at the CEART that brought together more than sixty pieces.
Over the last few years she has participated in different artistic residencies that have led to collaborations with galleries in countries such as China, Holland, Mexico, Portugal and Iceland.
She is currently represented by galleries in Beijing, in Miyazaki, and in Madrid.
